The appointment of a retired diplomat as Imo State's Senior liaison officer for Abuja is an interesting and unique move
The retired diplomat, Dr Umunna Humphrey Orjiako with his extensive experience and connections, can bring a range of skills and knowledge to his new office.
With his deep understanding of international relations, he will be useful in facilitating communication and cooperation between Imo State, the federal government and international development agencies.
Dr. Orjiako will also bring to the table a strong network of contacts that can be leveraged for the benefit of the state. In addition, his experience in diplomacy can help to build trust and relationships with key stakeholders in Abuja.
Dr. Orjiako, a retired foremost Foreign Service Officer, was a one time Ambassador to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein with concurrent accreditation as Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations Office and other international organisations at Geneva.
Credited with invaluable global outreach and capacity at high levels of bilateral and multilateral international governance and cooperation, Dr. Orjiako, in the course of his career pursuit, served as Director to four former Ministers in Nigeria – Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Prof. Joy Ogwu, late Chief Ojo Maduekwe and Dr. Odein Ajumogobia, SAN.
