*They've Not Told Us Why They Should Be Elected - The Unreasonable Voices*

In any political contest, the challenger must be able to draw a contrast and show why they should be elected over and above the incumbent. But from what we are seeing, it looks certain that the opposition candidates for the Imo State governorship election have reached their limits. It's getting pretty difficult for them to keep up with it all.

Looking at their campaign style hinged on non-policy and non-issue based, but filled with sing and dance-along; what it clearly shows is a consistent pattern of catastrophic flip-flops all over the place. Their voices are immature and unreasonable, virtually as dead as the dodo. They are the unreasonable voices.

The coming apart of the opposition governorship candidates shows they've no answers to the issues. And if at all they have answers, then why aren’t we hearing them?.

Anyone thinking of running against an incumbent must make a careful examination of whether it can be done. This is because incumbents win elections about 85% of the time and Governor Hope Uzodimma will not be an exception. The Governor is fully entrenched based on his solid achievements in office, and an entrenched incumbent is even harder to beat.

It is rather puzzling why those challenging the Governor should go into such a decision as to whether a challenge could be successful or a mere exercise in futility.

The first thing they failed to consider is the overall political environment. The political environment favours the incumbent who is daily playing critical state and national roles for the people. Take a look at his recent intervention for the Igbo in Lagos which has won universal applause and approval. Non of the Governor's opponents has that class, national acceptability, or even any atom of influence let alone capacity to engage in high level cross-ethnic negotiation and mediation.

Another factor is the general mood of the electorate. Generally, two things should worry incumbents. One is whether the electorate perceives that things are on the "right track". The other is whether the electorate thinks the incumbent cares about them.

On both accounts, the Imo electorate knows that Imo State is moving in the right direction as new projects are commissioned in quick successions. The dogged confrontation and pushback of bandits, the protection of the citizens during the covid19 pandemic, and the numerous people-oriented empowerment programs show that Governor Uzodimma cares for the people. The electorate will normally have a positive or negative perception of an incumbent's job performance, and the Governor has done well in all sectors to merit his well deserved positive perception.

There is only one reason why voters are willing to throw someone out of office. The reason is they have found someone better.

Here in Imo State, the motley crowd of opposition candidates are not an impressive bunch and are not known for any outstanding noble endeavours to dwarf the Governor.

Governor Hope Uzodimma stands taller with a far more remarkable national presence and administrative acumen.
