Meaningless Campaign Slogans

I can bet that am not alone when I say that I've heard nothing and seen nothing from the opposition governorship candidates indicating that they have any idea about the problems facing Imo State.
The mere observation of their campaign slogans reveals lack of effective and critical tools to attract and retain the attention of the Imo people.
Rather the guber candidates of the opposition parties have failed to convey clear, detailed, thorough and precise messages to the people and neither have they been able to market the leadership competence and qualities of their candidates that would provide solutions to the identified challenges facing the people.
The vision and mission of the opponents of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma have not illustrated any developmental agenda. What we see are merely mumbo Jumbo as opposed to conveying any distinctive and meaningful campaign message. We have only the sound rather than the content.
For the opposition candidates in Imo State, they have all lazily played on insecurity believing such to turn the tide of the campaign in their favour. But this has largely failed because Governor Hope Uzodimma has already won the insecurity battle completely. So saying you will make Imo safe is belated as Uzodimma has already done so convincingly to the admiration of the people.
A random survey of the population shows that they have opted for competence above any other quality. Naturally, strength of character and competence are Governor Uzodimma's unique selling points.
The prevailing pressing issue of concern to Imo citizens at this particular point in time is no longer insecurity. That is now in the past. So those manipulating insecurity as a rallying force or battle cry, in other to emerge victorious at the polls have hit a brick wall. Governor Uzodimma has conquered the bandits. They are now retreating following a determined government onslaught.
A credible economic plan and economic strategy is the new rallying force, not insecurity. The people want to see improvements in their livelihoods. The Governor has concentrated his firepower on economic development. Name it, solid road infrastructures, graduation of medical doctors, free access to medical care, expansion of more educational institutions, like K.O Mbadiwe University, the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, the new Alvan Ikoku University of Education etc. Not forgetting the Digital Skills training of thousands of youths, plus the upcoming Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone Project funded by the African Development Bank with the dredging of the Oguta/Lake Orashi River into the Atlantic Ocean unfolding before our very eyes.
The use of the slogan to make Imo safe again is even made worse by the fact that it is coming from the same people that made Imo unsafe.
How can the purveyors and perpetrators of violence bring peace? Impossible. It is a gimmick that has failed on arrival.
Governor Uzodimma's first tenure has focused on infrastructure development as reflected by the significant number of infrastructural projects
such as roads that have been constructed or reconstructed under his watch. His development policy initiative tagged SHARED PROSPERITY which encapsulates his development plan for Imo, has delivered reconstructions, rehabilitations and recoveries (3R) which everybody can see.
Can the candidates of opposition parties in Imo State win the hearts and minds of voters and save them from their problems, the answer is no. The people still believe that Governor Uzodimma is a goal-getter, and a brave leader with a national presence to make good things happen.
