GOVERNOR UZODIMMA TO IMO YOUTHS: "Ideas And Creative Thinking Is The Password ....We must enable our teeming youths to achieve economic prosperity"~ *Hope Uzodimma* 

Today, the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri witnessed a mammoth crowd of well over 15,000 Imo youths who are participants in cohort 2 of the Skill-Up Imo project. 

While flagging off the program, the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma disclosed that the welfare of the youths is central to the prosperity agenda of the government.
The Governor reminded the new trainees that 5000 youths have already graduated in the first phase of the program. He highlighted the premium he placed on the program when he said, "I recognize the fact that the youths represent our present and our future and without a dynamic, vibrant and self-reliant youth, we can never be sure where the future of our state is heading to".

The Governor challenged the youths to embrace digital literacy and entrepreneurship instead of looking for limited civil service employment. He condemned the situation where youths are roaming the streets looking for ministries to employ them. According to Governor Uzodimma, "Ministries are only regulators; the owners of every economy all over the world are the operators, and I want to be an operator and not a regulator and I wish you to be operators and not regulators", he said.
On the overall objective of the skill-up Imo project, the Governor stated that "the ultimate objective is the upskilling, reskilling and training of a minimum of 300,000 Imo youths in a space of 3 years, while the projection is to graduate at least 100,000 youths every year.

Describing the digital economy as the 4th Industrial Revolution skillset, Governor Uzodimma narrated how "digital innovations are reshaping and enhancing all interactions in every sector and facet of life at a scale and speed never witnessed before".
The Governor concluded by saying that Imo State is the only state in the South East with a Ministry of Digital Economy with a target to equip Imo youths with relevant digital skills and tools.
