CHIEF EMMANUEL IWUANYANWU HEADS IKEDURU DELEGATION TO UZODIMMA

Imo should be grateful to our Governor. I am grateful and proud. 

Extracts from the Speech Chief Iwuanyanwu's speech.


"To every human being there is a day to remember. I want to say it clearly to every Ikeduru son, to every Ikeduru daughter, this is a day to remember....Hope Uzodimma, is one of those that I will celebrate. He has shown loyalty, he has shown love, and he has also shown respect. 

Democracy is government of the people by the people and for the people. A good leader needs to interface by calling the people to come to this type of town hall meeting. If you read the history of Ancient Greece you will see it. Imo should be grateful to our Governor. I am grateful and proud. 

I spent all my life serving people. When I see people like Hope Uzodimma, when I see people like Pius Anyim,  when I see people like Senator Nnamani, when I see people like Senator Wabara, when I see all these my people from Ikeduru here, all these people whichever party they belong to,  passed through me. They are all my people. 

I want to say on this occasion, that I am glad I have not let Igbos down. 

There are individuals - maybe one day I will celebrate them. Hope Uzodimma, is one of those that I will celebrate. He has shown loyalty, he has shown love, and he has also shown respect. 

On many occasions I disagreed with him and on many occasions I opposed him but the thing about Hope Uzodimma is - even if you oppose him his mind is a mind of gold. 

Hope Uzodimma has never gone to a newspaper to bribe them to blackmail me. Hope has never gone to any social media. I don't support him all the time, but he is a very solid character. That is why when I tell you he is a good person, he is a good person indeed. 

My people selected me to lead this delegation and I want to thank them. Your Excellency we have come to answer your call. I want to thank you for the good things you have done. This town hall meeting which is non-partisan is very good. The French philosopher, said that in every society, there is a social contract between the Government and the people. 

The moment you became the Governor of Imo State you have a social contract with every Imo person.  Not only those in your party but also those who are not from your party and even those who are not in politics. 

Hope is one of the few leaders in politics who has obeyed that social contract. That's why I said you are a political leader and you are in ascendancy. Hope have supported Igbos too much. He has become a bridge between Igbos and the North.  When we meet at Igbo level we praise him. 

You gave us the Deputy Governor which is a very high position. You have in addition appointed many of our children in government. You didn't bother to ask if they have supported you or not. 

Please, extend our greeting to your dear wife barrister Chioma Uzodimma . We are happy that she is looking after you. 

You have gone through travails, we pray to God Almighty to bless you. 

For all Ikeduru sons and Daughters here, today you will go home - people are waiting at home because you are now like heroes and heroines of a new frontier in Ikeduru and Imo State. 

When you go home, people will ask you what happened. It is going to be history. It is going to be recorded even to your children and grand children that at a time in our history, there was a man who ruled in Imo state, a man who respected the will of the people, a man who has love for each other and you are privileged to be one of those who came today. You are going to tell your children and your grandchildren
