I Played A Key Role In The Reform Of The Aviation Industry~Gov. Uzodimma
The Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Hope Uzodimma have undertaking to
assist the leadership of the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on the standardization of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri in order to enhance its economic activities.
Governor Uzodimma made the remark when he recieved in audience, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Managing Director (MD) of FAAN, Captain Rabiu Yadudu and his team who were in his office today on courtesy visit.
Gov. Uzodimma vowed to assist the aviation sector in running its activities professionally, and pledged to push for the adequate funding of the industry.
The Imo State Governor reminded the visiting aviation officials that as the former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, he championed the rehabilitation, and reconstruction of runways, perimeter fences, aircraft parking lots, taxing ways across major airports in the country.
Uzodimma stated that his tenure as Aviation Committee Chairman saw to the making of security and insurance policies as prime indices for consideration by frequent fliers.
"As the Chairman of the 7th Senate Committee on Aviation, I played a key role in the development of a roadmap on the reform of the aviation industry"; Uzodimma stated.
Uzodimma declared that the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport Owerri is commercially viable and also attracts heavy traffic in the South East.
According to him, the airport have the potentials of doing better if more attention is paid towards standardization of the existing infrastructures, including the insurance policies around the airport.
The Governor urged Capt. Yadudu to oblige the Imo State government with the Status Report on the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport so as to properly define the status of the airport in terms of what had been done previously to guide on what is required of the government towards actualizing the international designation of the airport.
