Aftermath Of Gas Fire: Governor Uzodimma is Committed To Public Safety~Nzekwe
The Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Chief Hope Uzodimma has once again reiterated his commitment to the protection of lives and properties of Imo citizens.
Following the gas plant explosion which occured at the outskirts of Owerri, the governor who had ealier despatched the Deputy Governor to the scene of the invident, again announced through his Special Adviser on Public Safety, Prince Ugochukwu Nzekwe, that immediate steps will be taken to set safety standards in gas operations in the state.
Prince Nzekwe who visited the premises of the gas plant decried situations were such plants are sited harphazardly and close to residential areas. He warned that the governmental will henceworth monitor the activities of gas plant operators to ensure that there are no threats to public safety.
The Public Safety Adviser used the opportunity of his inspection to also visit families of victims of the incident and assured them of government support.
One of the victims, Mr. Ikeada Onyekpandu from Umudibia Nekede thanked Governor Uzodimma for his quick response by despatching officials of government to visit them. According to him, " Governor Uzodimma has through his action showed that he cares for human beings and loves the people".
