El-Rufai, Belo-Osagie, Akufo-Addo to speak on how African businesses ( Informal Sector) can survive covid-19

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai will join a host of other discussants in a panel titled “This Isn’t the West – How Africa’s Informal Sector Responds to COVID-19,” as part of the Crisis Management for African Business Leaders webinar series.

Organised by media holding company, Africa.com in conjunction with Harvard Business School faculty members, the series seeks to address the challenges African executives face during the COVID-19 pandemic while drawing more than 3,000 participants from 81 countries – 41 countries in Africa and 40 nations from the rest of the world.

The panel, which has President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana as its keynote speaker, is to be moderated by Hakeem Belo-Osagie, Chairman FSDH Holding Company and Harvard Business School Senior Lecturer of Business Administration.

Teresa Clarke, CEO and Chair of Africa.com said, “President Akufo-Addo’s leadership of the pandemic has been tailored to the unique social, economic and cultural conditions of his country.

“We are very pleased that President Akufo-Addo has accepted our invitation to address the pan-African business community about this critical issue, and provide his perspective on how African leaders in both the public and private sectors may navigate these complex choices.”

Ahmed Mushfiq Mobrarak, Professor of Economics, Yale University; and Amandla Ooko-Ombaka, Senior Engagement Manager, McKinsey & Co are also among the dignitaries.

The webinar participants are made up of a majority of the most senior private sector players in Africa, most of whom have titles such as CEO, chair, managing director, president, principal, partner, CFO, chair, finance director, chief, director, executive director, group head, general manager or manager.

Others are senior government officials, leading academics, and heads of non-profit organizations.

“This isn’t the West – How Africa’s Informal Sector Reacts to COVID-19” will hold on Wednesday, 29th April.
